R&C Management's Holiday Reflections: Celebrating Traditions and Gratitude
Join us as we share our favorite holiday moments, cherished traditions, and what we're most grateful for this season.
As the holiday season quickly approaches, the team at R&C Management takes a moment to reflect on the traditions, memories, and gratitude that make this time of year so special. This season, we asked our team to share their favorite holiday traditions, memorable moments, and what they are most grateful for.
Here are their heartfelt reflections.
For many of us, the joy of giving gifts and seeing the reactions of loved ones is a cherished tradition. One team member fondly recalls the excitement of being woken up by overly excited children at 5 AM on Christmas day. Another highlights the annual Christmas tree hunt, a fun-filled adventure that brings the family together. The holiday season also offers a chance to slow down, giving everyone a good perspective and time to appreciate and be grateful for the blessings in their lives.
Memorable holiday moments are often tied to special places and experiences. One team member treasures visiting Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC, while another finds that simply spending quality time with family is always memorable. These moments, whether grand or simple, hold a special place in our hearts.
When it comes to holiday dishes and treats, our team has a variety of favorites. Honey baked ham is a go-to for some, while others look forward to a Christmas breakfast featuring French toast casserole or homemade cinnamon rolls. Pumpkin pie also makes an appearance as a beloved holiday dessert.
The idea of spending the holidays anywhere in the world brings out different dreams. Some wish for a snowy Christmas, while others prefer a sunny 75-degree day. However, the consensus is clear: home, surrounded by family, is the best place to be during the holidays.
Holiday movies and songs add to the festive spirit. Favorites like "Elf," "Jingle Bell Rock," "Muppets Christmas Carol," "Christmas Story," and "It’s a Wonderful Life" are mainstays in many of our family routines. "Christmas Vacation" is also a classic that brings laughter and joy year after year.
Unique holiday traditions add a special touch to the season. Making pierogis is a big tradition in one team member’s family, while another shares the joy of spending Christmas Eve at their in-laws' house with extended family, so everyone gets the joy of experiencing the excitement of the children on Christmas morning together. Even the family pets get in on the fun, with stockings filled with treats and toys.
Gratitude is a central theme during the holidays. Our team expresses thankfulness for God, family, friends, the opportunity to spend quality time together, and amazing clients and communities to serve. Reflecting on a successful 2024, we look forward to the promise of a great year ahead in 2025.
The holiday break is also a busy time for many of our clients' capital improvement projects. Derek Morgan, Project Manager, shares his excitement about the project team completing the second phase of Cherry Park Elementary and North Powellhurst Elementary schools in the David Douglas School District. This project includes an electrical upgrade that will allow both schools to experience air conditioning throughout the buildings for the first time. Scott Rose, Sr. Program & Project Manager highlights a much-needed boiler upgrade at Meadows Elementary School in the Centennial School District and his work over the holiday conducting Facility Assessments in the Gaston School District.
As Dan Bodell, Sr. Project Manager beautifully puts it, "For me, it’s a time to slow down and remember that we’re part of a community, be it family, friends, faith, or village."
As we reflect on these wonderful traditions and moments, we are reminded of the importance of community and the joy that comes from sharing these experiences with loved ones. From all of us at R&C Management, we wish you a joyous holiday season filled with love, laughter, and gratitude.
